Something I thought about as I looked out at the Pacific Ocean on a Run

Travelling for my job can be a blessing and a curse. I have to be away from my wife and kids a lot. Sometimes several weeks, several overnights in a row. The worst was an 11 week stretch M-Th. But I also get the opportunity to travel. This year, I've been to NY, FL, AZ, OH, WI, IN, AR, NJ, and now I am in CA. I've been able to see family (my aunt, uncle, grandmother), and friends (Bob, Lisa, Ryan, Nathan, Dave, Maureen, Steve, Val). I've taken runs on historic roads Route 66, and today on US Highway 1, in Laguna Beach. I've taken advantage of the open mindedness of my company and brought my family with me, as well. We got to enjoy a nice vacation in AZ while attending a conference. We saw the Grand Canyon, Jerome, Tucson, and I was able to show my family where I used to live. I even get to enjoy hanging out with my friends from work. I've been on a NY subway, attended a Yankees game, and ate a slice of pizza at Original Ray's with BJ and Nicole, I've been to the Pottawatomie Casino with BJ and Jay, met some interesting people in a small town in Wisconsin with Steve and BJ, smoked cigars last night on Laguna Beach with Steve, and I've even learned a few things about my own hometown with Jay (try Volare and CND Bar). I've even had some fun with clients, David and Scott, watching Karaoke in Greensburg, PA.

Oh, and we have great meetings too. Like the one we had yesterday. Like the one I hope to have in a few hours today. Like the one we had in Indiana and NY, like the trainings I've been to in PA and MD, and the trainings I hope to attend in Indiana, California and several other states.

While every airport and every hotel, and every continental breakfast can all bleed together, while I still get nervous and anxious when I get on and am on a plane, I enjoy my job, and the perks that come with it. That's a good place to be when I am 39 and 259 days old.
